Cover to Cover... he hears our prayers

Yes, it's another Monday and time to let you know about our chronological readings Cover to Cover of the Bible with the girls.
This is what lingers for me this week...

Psalm 40
I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.

I am sure most of you who read this blog know about Beth Moore and how much she has inspired me to get into God's Word. I have been blessed by so many of her books. Get Out of that Pit was one I read and passed on to a friend. If you have not read it, you should. She also talked about it on Life Today on Wednesdays with Beth.

2 Samuel 22:7
In my distress I called to the LORD;
I called out to my God.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came to his ears.

God helped me in the most difficult time of my life while going through my (Pit) divorce. He was with me through it all. I had to surrender my life to Him so I could get some kind of peace beyond my understanding. This past year he has been there for me more than ever. Whenever my life seems to go smoothly He gives me reason to need Him once again.

Psalm 86:11-13
Teach me your way, O LORD,
and I will walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.

I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.

When I look around at everyone I know, they are all going through something. I pray He gives you reason to need Him. He hears us when we pray! I know that for sure!

All my love and gratitude for His Word,
Angie xoxo

p.s. There is so much more in our readings and I look forward to reading your insights each week.

For various reasons, I have been thinking about "pits" this week. There is such comfort in knowing that He hears my cries. You are a blessing, my friend. Thank you for your words!

Pits have been on my mind alot lately....they scare us don't they?? Even though we know that HE is right there with us, and its the sweetest time as you look back on those pits bc you were so dependant on Him, but pits stink!!

I love these verses Angie. Beautiful.

I love Psalms 40, I could read it over and over again. It always gets to me and makes me strong. It's such a powerful chapter.

Oh Angie... we are so on the same page today. I just posted on my blog about how God is there for us at all times! How scripture, our faith and our Christian fellowship prepares us for those times we are in a pit, or experiencing difficulites. God is so good! He wants to rescue us. He reaches that mighty hand of His down and pulls us right out of that pit!

Hey Angie,
I found you through your comment on Elaine Olsen's blog. I thought I'd pop over and check you out. I just wrote a piece on Psalm 86 on my blog called "Give Me! Give Me!". I would love for you to read it and compare our thoughts.
I also couldn't help but be drawn to the big D word in your post. I too have endured that. Long story short my husband left me unbiblically (that is no infidelity) and I'm still very much broken over it. He left 6/07 and it was final 10/07). He truly is my soul mate and I'm praying for restoration of the marriage.

How long ago was your divorce? I briefly read your 100 things about you and it said you try to love your husband the way he is. I also notice a pic of you and a man, presumed to be your husband. Is this your second marriage. Just curious if you'd like to share it.

Grasping Him,
Paula

I'm thankful that we can cry out to God in our distress and He hears us. He gives us peace in the midst of the storm. I think I'd already be locked up in some asylum somewhere without HIM working in me. Yes, we need HIM; HIS word. Thanks for sharing.

Blessings in Christ--
