Cover to Cover... thinking and praying

It's Mother's Day and the Sunday before another... Cover to Cover recap of this week's readings. So, you ask what lingers for me?

I'll tell you this... My friends and family are lingering in my soul tonight as I type this.

I'm thinking about someone who lost the love of her life, but rejoicing he is in Heaven tonight and out of pain.
I'm thinking about someone who longs to have ALL of her children with her today.
I'm thinking about someone who struggles with anxiety.
I'm thinking about someone in a lot of pain while waiting for surgery this Friday.
I'm thinking about someone getting excited to have her first child soon.
I'm thinking about someone who is burying a child this week.
I'm thinking about someone who doesn't have the kind of mother she wished she had and wished she could find just any card that was appropriate.
I'm thinking about someone who is so worried about their son they don't know what to do. (None of the medications are working.)
I'm thinking about someone who was betrayed by someone at work.
I'm thinking about someone who celebrated his 21st Birthday this week.
I'm thinking about someone who wished her mother was alive today.
I'm thinking about someone struggling with an eating disorder.
I'm thinking about someone whose marriage is in big trouble and finally opened up to me about it.
I'm thinking about someone who is having a tough time recovering from surgery and is in a coma tonight.
I'm thinking about someone who feels out of touch from living out of state this week.
I'm thinking about someone excited about their new home.
I'm thinking about someone moving back to college tomorrow.
I'm thinking about someone starved for attention and acceptance.
I'm thinking about someone addicted to the approval of others.
I'm thinking about someone who is concerned about their daughter's choices.
I'm thinking about someone who is lonely tonight and wished she could have just one more chance.
I'm thinking about someone looking for direction, clarity and God's will in a decision.
I'm thinking about someone who may have memories sparked by this week's readings and be reminded of some very hurtful experiences in her life.

Here are my favorite verses from this week's readings...

Psalm 23:1-4
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

I will be more than thinking about all of these friends and family. I will be PRAYING they will ALL run to the ONLY One who can give comfort tonight! Please join me in prayer and feel free to add any to my list!

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!
I am SO grateful and there is One who deserves ALL of the Glory!
In His Love,
Angie xoxo

God has given you such a heart of compassion, Angie. You see with His Eyes, through love, the pain and suffering, and turn to the One who can change dry away the tears and turn mourning to dancing. Beautiful and comforting verses that minister to hearts. Bless you this evening as your heart is so burdened. I am thinking of someone who has a heart for the Lord and uses it to bring others to Him. Love you, Annette

I absolutely love this post. I've tried three times to tell you why and I just cannot express myself. So, please forgive my blonde-ness and just know that I love the reminder that you've given me and I love seeing your heart. (Do you ever stop to think about how much our recaps show about ourselves? I think yours shows your compassion and empathy and love for others just beautifully.)

love,
karen

Your post moved me to tears. I am praying for the people on your list...

Please join me as I pray for:

My mother in law as she cares for my father in law during his last earthly days.

My Grandmother as she mourns the death of my Grandfather as well as the 1 year anniversary of the sudden death of my aunt (her daughter)

My cousins who are still struggling since the death of their mother.

For a friend whose broken marriage caused so much pain for her on Mother's Day.

For my Goddaughter as she struggles with being a teenager and dealing with her parent's bitter divorce.

Yes, may the Lord who brings peace provide them comfort during the storms of this earthly life. May they keep their eyes heavenward toward glory as they are refined through the fire.

God Bless You Angie!

WOW, this is an amazing list! I was just thinking today about how hard it is to remember and cover EVERYONE in prayer. There are so many people suffering and in need. Praise God that He knows each and every one of them and exactly how to comfort and heal them. Whether it is in this lifetime or in eternity, our God will tend to our every need....

Thanks for being so faithful with these cover to cover readings, you minister to me every time you write about them!

Take care and God bless you!

Love,
Kelley

As I was reading what you were thinking about, I could nod my head with people I know experiencing the same things. It can become overwhelming if we only think about the struggles/problems and not the One who holds it all in His hands. Nothing is impossible with God and I am so thankful for that.

Boy, we do live in such a hurting world. It breaks my heart to read your extensive list and I know that is only a microscope of the prayers our Father hears. You have such a loving heart to think of so many other people. I too have a long list and shamefully don't capture each person every day but the Lord knows are hearts. The amazing thing is that the Lord knows each of these situations regardless of our prayers but He rejoices when we pray to Him for others. There is power in prayer.

Through my blogging experience, I have come to realize just how many hurting marriages there are. Christian men committing adultery. This just blows my mind. Having recently experiencing that dreaded "D" word, I believe I've become even more sensitive to marriage/divorce. I have several friends who's husbands have left for various reasons. They have been gravely deceived by Satan yet this women stand in faith as I do, that God will restore our marriages. Amazingly some of the men have enter non-covenant marriages with another woman but these friends are standing on God's promises to honor their vows and covenant. Wow! I draw strength from each of them and I understand their pain. I ask that you pray for these marriages, including mine. It is such a sad case to know more divorces happen within Christian marriages than in non-believers! Satan for sure is having a hay day. If he can conquer and destroy the one relationship that mimic Christ's with the church, he's on his way to a domino effect of destroying so much more.

I don't mean to be on my soap box but I guess having recently endured this, it has REALLY opened my eyes to the severity of divorce and the command of God to not do it but rather that ALL are to honor marriage. I only wish I had this revelation a few years ago.

Thanks for your love and compassion. Everytime I see your photo, I can see the beauty not only on the outside but most importantly on the inside!
Love,
Paula
